Ha. When I buy a liter or ether I'm lucky if when I get it back to my studio
that I still have half a can--evaporation :-0 The idea that you would have
either to dispose of blows my mind.

A variant on flammability - formation of unstable
explosive peroxides in storage. Think of it as "going
bad" and turning into an explosive. I don't know that
the current guidelines are; I do recall my college
disposing of ether after either 6 or 12 months as a
safety precaution.
