Yes, they are very uneven. I have used them for years to photograph my
paintings, using tungsten yuchtechrome slide film. I use several, from different
angles to try to even the light out, but it's a challenge. The series of
paintings on my website were all photographed that way. The closer they are to
the subject, the worse the problem, so i can't imagine they would be good as
a light source for your purpose.
