I'll also vouch for the power of seeing the Douglas Daguerreotype. It was
first displayed a couple of years ago in a different show and it is striking
beyond belief...it's almost like some kind of holographic representation of
Fredrick Douglas...the sense of history that one feels while viewing it is
very powerful.
Tha Art Institute's collection and exhibitions are almost always top notch
and it's one of the best things about living in Chicago. Whenever life gets
me down, I go to the 'tute and recharge my batteries. Glad that there was a
good selection of material there for your visit.
