Rob,

You can use the Expert Drums on a regular roller with the following
provisions:

1. You need a fat piece of hose or a right-angle funnel to introduce the
rather large fluid volumes needed *while the drum is rolling*. It won't
work right if you pour in like a regular print drum and then tip over.

2. You should reverse the drum--turn it from east to west--at regular
frequent intervals. A motor base that reverses direction is not as good
because it won't introduce as much randomness in the agitation pattern.
(The real Jobo only reverses direction, but the lid design introduces an
intentional wobble to the drum for random-itude). You'll also be
dependent on room atmosphere for temperature maintenance this way.

All the Expert Drums are very fat in diameter and require the largest
Jobo models, with lift. Don't get one of the smaller Jobo's--it won't
work at all with Expert Drums.
