Most enlargers seem to have uneven coverage.  In one of the classes 
attended they made a gray print without a negative in the holder and 
noted where the dark areas were and fastened a white paper dinner 
plate cut to fit into the top of the light enclosure to even out the 
exposure - making gray prints  and adjusting the amount of white paper 
until the light was even.
