dear list:
my intentions were never to start a flame but again to simply express the fact that i've been missing the
stimulating discussions of which Judy has been a major contributor. The wonderful part of this list too often
does not happen in photography: that free flow of technical information without any selfish guarding of
technical "secrets" for fear someone might be creating something "better" than you. When I first started to
read the list, I felt privileged to be listening in on experts working, conversing and thinking out loud. I am not
going "tit for tat" here but somewhere along the line a tone of "I'm better than you" did set in. I appreciated
Judy for her candor and honesty when she finally blew the whistle. And while I understand there are other
reasons for the traffic on the list to be slow this time of year (I am a teacher also), it did seem to me that, no
coincidence, when Judy left, things stopped. So, I don't really care to respond to whose flaming who, or who
did what. And I don't want to waste my energy getting offended, I have too little time and energy to spend on
photography as is. I appreciate all your responses to my post. I say let the photography (whether technical
or aesthetic) discussions begin again. Please, the only rules could be the same ones I have for my students:
respect each other, be polite, no condescending behaviors (didn't we learn this in kindergarten?) except yes,
we can talk to strangers.
 Thanks, Janet
