Mapplethorpe's Work

In speaking of Mapplethorpe's work, what fabric did he in fact use for his
Pt/Pd. prints. Someone on the list mentioned that it was some sort of
linen. I originally thought they were printed on silk but apparently silk
does not clear well. Who did the printing on this fabric, what
percentage of his work was Pt and pd. printed on fabric and how large
were the fabric prints. Anyone know the details or where they are found ?
His biography by Patricia Morrisroe does not go into this in any depth.
