Re: The Democratic Answer to new home - VOTE

I am against Yahoo with determination .... it has been scandalized
from it's inception with spurious associations.

I am pro academic solutions, including G. Eastman House
I want to agree with Greg that it is more prudent to use
institutional resources. The George Eastman house sounds great and
may survive as a non-commercial institution, plus the largest
repository of photographic history and knowledge.
Other good options are; The University Of Arizona and ICP. And also
I believe that Arizona State also has strong commitments to
photography, institutionally.

Well, I've taken the liberty to quickly tally the comments that
have appeared so far, and understand I'm taking a liberty here in
interpreting comments as votes; this in no way of course represents
an official count, or even an unofficial count, it's just a way of
trying to get a "sense of the meeting" (I was brought up Quaker) to
this point. If anyone feels I've misrepresented your position,
please correct me, although as I said this isn't an official count
in any way. If anything, at this point, it's more of a compendium
of early thoughts and concerns, and may be useful for helping set
up questions/categories if anyone's going to set up an official
survey using Survey Monkey or whatever. (And note, these are not
exhaustive or mutually exclusive, just a summary of the comments so
far, FWIW.)

Well, if there's software available, that would be great, but if
not I don't mind counting the votes and providing a data summary.

 I agree Eric,

Is there some software that can be used? I’d hate to be the one
who counts the votes!

Subject: The Democratic Answer to new home - VOTE

While time may be a limiting factor to a degree that Gordon is
best to advise us about, the way to move to a new hosting
solution is by vote. Could even be representational; years member
x post / # of flames that were started by your post x number of
post that actually helped. Mostly tongue in cheek on that but a
simple poll should be able to be taken. Google, Yahoo, Freelist,
Write in. Open for several days, then make it happen.
